Discover the Art of Photography in the Lavender Fields

Capturing Picture-Perfect Moments at Sweet Streams Lavender

When you arrive at Sweet Streams Lavender, you’ll be swept up in the beauty of rolling fields filled with fragrant purple lavender, immediately immersing you in the scent of serenity. The fields stretch as far as the eye can see, transporting you from the hustle and bustle of life to somewhere that has to be seen to be believed. While our farm produces a huge array of lavender products, it is also a haven for photographers, promising the most exquisite backdrop imaginable. We’re offering our top tips to help you make the most of our lavender scenes if you’ve got your camera in hand.

When in bloom, our expansive lavender fields provide an unrivaled setting for photography – whether it’s for an engagement shoot, a proposal set-up or even a branding shoot. You’ll discover row upon row of vibrant purple stems under the contrast of blue skies (hopefully), creating a stunning shot with every click of the camera.

Use Natural Light

Make the most of natural lighting when photographing our lavender fields. While the fields look gorgeous all day long, we personally believe that the best time to capture the lavender fields is during golden hour. This happens just before sunset or just after sunrise, where a soft and warm light will illuminate the color of the lavender fields.

It’s All in the Details

Sprigs of lavender are delicate and brimming with texture and color. We recommend getting up close and personal so that you can capture the unique detail that every lavender plant has to offer.

Capture the Movement

There is something rather romantic about the thought of lavender softly swaying in the wind, adding to the natural element that Sweet Streams Lavender has to offer as a farm (and a photograph backdrop). Capture the motion as the lavender plants move, creating depth and interest with each image.

Portrait Photography

While lavender has a huge amount of detail to offer, the fields also provide an unforgettable backdrop for portrait photography. Place your focal point within the rows of lavender, where the purple and green hues will beautifully frame the topic. This is particularly perfect if you’re taking photographs of family, engagement pictures or images of individuals.

Bring In Props

We love seeing how creative photographers get at Sweet Streams Lavender! Bring along props for your photo opportunity, from wicker baskets, sun-hats, rustic wooden crates or picnic blankets. We recommend bringing in props that complement the natural surroundings, working in harmony with the beauty of the setting.

Editing Fun

If you really want to make the purple of your photographs ‘pop’, we recommend adjusting the contrast and/or saturation of your imagery. Different filters can alter the mood and feel of your photographs, depending on what you want the final result to look like.
